While all speakers play an important role in your home theater system, the performance of your subwoofer can greatly affect the overall performance of your system. Think of a subwoofer as a vital component that adds excitement to your music or theater experience and understand that not all subwoofers are created equal.
Because of our audiophile heritage here at PSB, our engineers place a particular emphasis on the overall musicality of our subwoofers. Special attention is given to their ability to seamlessly match our high quality speakers during even the most demanding music and filmscore passages. Equally important is the subwoofer's ability to sustain powerful lower frequencies for extended periods of time. PSB offers a full range of subwoofers to meet the needs of our discerning customers.
Subseries 1 8"
The new Subseries 1 is the first of a next generation of high performance powered subwoofers from PSB. Building on the popular Subzero i, it brings a new level of performance and value to the most affordable subwoofer category. With many significant performance enhancements, it will deliver lower, louder and more musically lifelike bass than other subwoofers in it's price class. And although it's compact and unobtrusive, it provides the kind of high impact performance associated with many bigger and more expensive subwoofers.
Subseries 500
The Subesries 500 has 500 watts of continuous power and is capable of over 1500 watt peaks. The result is a subwoofer capable of the great transients required by dynamic music and explosive sound effects. The Subseries 500 offers the latest most efficient implementation of the special class H technology.
The Subseries 500 is constructed from thick MDF and aluminium extrusions forming an extremely rigid cabinet free of any audible resonances due to panel or brace movement. Large elliptical ports with large raduis flanges drastically reduce port noise to inaudible levels while minimizing acoustic compression common to smaller diameter port designs. Air will create noise when ever it comes into contact with a hard surface. Minimizing the area of the surface that the air actually comes into contact with reduces this noise. A severe duty aluminium cast basket, very large magnet structure and a high powered voice coil allow the Subseries 500 to effortlessly churn out low frequencies at foundation shaking levels.
Subsonic 5i
For those not looking to break the bank, the compact 5i delivers great bass reinforcement for smaller to medium rooms. Here again, we have carefully chosen one of our 10" woofers and matched it well with a dynamic 225 watt internal amplifier. The result is an extremely tight bass that delivers the punch that high performance home theater demands. The back panel features connections and control to allow for integration into any of todays modern home theater systems.
Subsonic 6i
When the PSB team set out to build a dynamic, cost effective subwoofer, they established a new benchmark that has been hailed by critics. The Subseries 6i uses a simple, but solid bass reflex enclosure to house a single 12" woofer backed by a powerful 350 wat amplifier. With cross over and gain controls, and both speaker and line level inputs, the Subseries 6i intergrates well with our other budget minded speaker ensembles to deliver the excitement of home cinema.
Subseries HD-8
The very compact (less than 1 square foot) Subseries HD8 has a similar performance to it's slightly bigger brother the HD10. To over power the laws of physics the HD8 employs Dual Opposing Heavy Passive Radiators to "fool" the HD8 cabinet into behaving as a much larger enclosure with much larger, longer ports. The results of this design should be obvious to all: Deep powerful high impact reproduction of even the most challenging soundtracks and musical performances from an incredibly small subwoofer.
Subseries HD-10
The very compact (less than 1 square foot) Subseries HD10 has the performance of a much larger subwoofer and is perfect for people who want performance but do not want to give up a large area of their room to do it.
