The goal of our "i" Series has always been to deliver a full range of versatile, uncompromising speakers at exceptional value. The newly designed "i" Series does just that and more by offering premium PSB performance at a reasonable price. We have focused on the real needs and wants of listeners and the result is a series with high-value features and advancements never before seen at this level.
While Image maintains its affordability, the technology adopted from our flagship Synchrony and sophisticated Imagine speakers raises this series above the norm. Smartly incorporated features include long-excursion, high-output woofers and one-inch titanium dome tweeters borrowed from the Synchrony design. This allows for remarkably compact designs that rival much larger conventional speakers. The "i" Series also takes fashion cues from its siblings with a curvier silhouette and streamlined look.
The C4 and C5 center channel speakers delier their two-way systems in a dual woofer horizontal format. Engineered to maximize performance in multi-channel applications, the C4 pairs two four inch woofer with the on inch titanium tweeter, while the C5 employs a pair of 5 1/4 inch woofers. The cabinets are only 5 1/5 inch and 7 1/8 ionch high, making them very easy to place near todays legions of new flat screen TVs.
The "i" series B5 bookshelf speakers are ideal for rear speakers in a home theatre or as stereo speakers in their own right. The 4 inch woofers employ injection-molded diaphramps with a proprietary, clay/ceramic filled polypropylene cone that uniquely optimizes stiffness, internal damping and low mass.
The "i" series' two towers - the T5 & T6 - are slim floorstanding models 37 and 41 inches high that deliver full blooded, technically refined sound with tonal, spacial and dynamic accuracy. The T5 is a dual woofer transitional two and a half way design with identical 5 1/4 inch woofers and a one inch titanium tweeter. The T6 is a three way dual cavity, daul ported design with 6 1/2 inch woofers and a discrete 5 1/4 inch self contained midrange driver. Many of these design features are similar to those found in the award winning Synchrony One design approach.
The woofersemploy injection-molded diaphramps with a proprietary, clay/ceramic filled polypropylene cone that uniquely optimizes stiffness, internal damping and low mass. The woofers' magnetically netural polycarbonate basket contributes additional stiffness, while it's bullet shaped phase plug enhances linearity at higher frequencies.
"The T6 tower is a three way system similar in execution to the Synchrony One," explains Paul Barton. "Not only are the orientation and arrangement on the front baffle similar to that of the Synchrony One, the arrangement helps the in phase lobe tilt up so that the speaker has a very similar voice weather the listener is sitting down or standing up."
