Founded in Vienna in 1947 by Dr. Rudolf Goerike and Ernst Pless, AKG soon became one of the biggest players in the world of sound. Within months, the first AKG microphones were being used in radio stations, theatres and Jazz-Clubs. A long time user of AKG products, in 1972 the BBC's 50th anniversary stamp showed historical microphones along with models from the AKG catalog.
Today AKG is synonymous with high-quality microphones, headphones and wireless equipment, providing the highest quality and ongoing innovation in the world of music.
Around the world recording studios, opera houses, famous stages, commercial radio and TV stations count on AKG products. Frank Sinatra, Eric Clapton, Roger Whittaker, Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Anastasia, Eros Ramazotti, Kayne West and Simply Red have all used AKG microphones and headphones on tour and in the recording studio. AKG products have been successfully used in space programs, underwater filming and in the frozen wastes of the Arctic.
